History
The family-owned company HISS REET Schilfrohrhandel GmbH was founded the 2nd of November in 1833 in Bad Oldesloe. Hiss Reet has been trading reed since the nineteen-twenties and has grown to become the biggest merchant for reed in Germany. Subsidiary companies in Turky, Rumania and Hungary harvest the reed and are responsible for its processing. The reed products are directly distributed to Germany, Holland, England , Ireland and Denmark via ship or truck or they are brought to Bad Oldesloe, the principal office, where further distribution occurs. Additionaly Hiss Reet also trades complementary products of other manufacturers as for example dormer windows, wall heatings, fastening material etc.. In addition to the traditional trade with reed for thatching a growing focus is put on the trade with other reed products. Due to the constantly growing demand Hiss Reet founded the sector of natural building material in 2004. Clients also revealed a stronger interest for the sector of Hiss Reet Garden Products which hence was extended by new products.
